On Friday evening, Aug. 6, 2010, each 48 Hour Film Project - Inland Empire team will draw a genre from a hat, and throughout this Kick Off event (at UltraStar Cinemas-University Village in Riverside), three elements (character, prop, line of dialogue) will be announced. When the last element is announced, teams start movie-making! You have to use all three elements and stay within your genre (although you can mix genres) to be eligible for juried awards. On Sunday evening, Aug. 8, teams will Drop Off their completed 4-7 min. films at UltraStar Cinemas...and then sleep! Completed films will have their Premiere Screenings in the top-notch, 415-seat HD-ready Theater No. 9 at UltraStar Cinemas on Aug. 18 and 19. Screenings are open to the public, so have your friends and family pre-purchase their tickets to watch Your film! On Aug. 25 in the 361-seat Old Town Temecula Community Theater, the Best Of the 2010 Inland Empire edition of The 48 Hour Film Project will be screened (in HD!) and awards (including Best Actor, Best Screenplay) will be presented. Inland Empire's Best Film will then go up against the rest of the world's best for even more awesomeness in Filmapalooza!

THE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT RETURNS TO THE INLAND EMPIRE
IE’s 2009 Best Film finished 2nd runner-up in the world finals.
Registration for this year’s filmmaking contest has opened.
Inland Empire, CA – Summer 2010 – The world’s largest timed-filmmaking competition, The 48 Hour Film Project, returns for its third year in the Inland Empire. In the weekend contest, each team gets 1 genre, 3 elements (character, prop, line of dialogue) and 48 hours to make a 4-7 minute film – write, shoot, edit, score, and get it “in the can.” After catching up on sleep, filmmakers and actors – plus the general public – watch the completed projects in local theaters.
Registration is open for the Inland Empire competition weekend - Aug. 6-8, 2010. Actors and filmmakers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. For more information and to register, please visit http://48hourfilm.com/inlandempire
Registration until Aug. 6 is $155 per team, and each team decides and funds its own film budget. Teams can be as small as one person or as big as 100 (or more) cast and crew.
Premiere screenings will be at UltraStar Cinemas-University Village in Riverside on Aug. 18 and 19. A “Best of Inland Empire” screening and awards ceremony is slated for Aug. 25 at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater. The Inland Empire winner then competes against the rest of the world’s best 48HFP films.
For those interested in participating, pre-competition informational Meet and Greets are tentatively planned for Riverside, Palm Springs, and Rancho Cucamonga. Films from previous competitions usually are shown, followed by Q&A sessions with the filmmakers, and attendees have the opportunity to network to form teams or join existing ones. Last year, nearly 40,000 filmmakers made 3,000 films in 76 cities. Thirteen 2009 48HFP films were selected for the Marche du Film short-film showcase at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival – the most well-known film festival in the world. Among those was 2009 Inland Empire city winner "Rationed," by Team Vegan Cannibal Productions. The film placed 2nd Runner-up in the world finals of The 48 Hour Film Project, aka, Filmapalooza, as part of the NAB Show in Las Vegas.
